One big community effort to support adult literacy in New Brunswick.
Bookstravaganza is more than a used book sale. It is a joyful, three-day celebration of reading, reuse, volunteerism, and community spirit — all in support of READ NB’s free adult literacy tutoring programs across the province.
Each year, community members donate more than 50,000 books, puzzles, games, DVDs, and other treasures. Volunteers sort, stack, organize, and cheerfully wrangle it all into one of New Brunswick’s biggest book-loving events. Then thousands of shoppers arrive to fill bags, boxes, shelves, classrooms, daycares, community rooms, and homes. Every book purchased helps turn a donated story into a new beginning for an adult learner.
Funds raised through Bookstravaganza help READ NB provide free, confidential tutoring for adults working to improve their reading, writing, math, and learning skills. For learners, that can mean reading to a child, understanding forms or instructions, preparing for work, managing money, building confidence, or taking the next step in life.
