You can give the gift of reading
In New Brunswick, nearly half of all adults struggle with reading. I know that is hard to believe. After all, I'm sure no one in your family and none of your friends are struggling, or are they? The truth is most people don't like to admit they are find reading difficult and have had many years to figure out how to hide it, and 'work around' it. Hiding it may work for them, right up until the day it doesn't. Maybe that's the day when they lose their job and they have to file paperwork for employment insurance, or look for a new job. Maybe that's the day they are given medical instructions on how to prepare before surgery. Or maybe that's the day their child or grandchild asks them to "read me a story".

READ NB - Laubach Literacy New Brunswick has been here to help people improve their literacy for more than forty years. We have seen people through the best and the worst of times and we continue to find ways to adapt and reach more learners throughout the province. In addition to our one-to-one tutoring, we now offer online and hybrid learning opportunities. Some of our councils now offer book clubs, cooking to learn programs, and conversation circles for newcomers. We also support community literacy initiatives like Story Walks (Fredericton & Miramichi).
