READ Southwest - Board Docs
Draft By-laws - these draft by-laws have been developed for your review. They are an amalgamation of the current by-laws of our other affiliated councils.
Budget Template - each year the councils provide to READ NB an accountability report. The draft budget is used by all in order to ensure it is to make comparisons.
Affiliation Agreement - READ NB and its councils are connected through an affiliation agreement. It outlines our responsibilities and support to one-another. READ Southwest will be an affiliated council of READ NB.
READ Southwest Board Recruitment Package - I've included this in case you have any friends or colleagues you would like to recruit to the board. Please feel free to share this package with them. I am happy to speak to any potential candidates that come forward.
READ NB Interim Report to Working NB - April 1 - December 31, 2025. I've included this as you may be interested to see the reporting we are required to provide. You will see READ Southwest figures start on page 24, with St. George OST on page 25. As of April 1, St. George OST numbers will begin to be included as part of READ Southwest.
Council Grant Application - The Councils are invited to submit a grant request to READ NB each January, requesting funding for the upcoming year. Our board reviews the grant requests in February, and provides provisional approval. Receiving the requests allows READ NB to develop a budget that includes an accurate reflection of the support required by our councils in the upcoming year. This, in turn, is reflected in our grant request to WorkingNB.

Tutor Coordinator Portal - This is provided as an FYI - We recently launched our Tutor Coordinator Portal - this portal provides some of the introductory materials that may be useful to the staff/admin volunteers for a council. It includes the Tutor Coordinator's manual (how to run our program), links that show them how to use the database, and various Learner/Tutor Intake forms.
READ NB, the "About Us" page - We try to very transparent to our councils and stakeholders. On our "About Us" page you will find out latest Annual Report and Financial Statement, as well as our current Strategic Plan (which will be updated this June). We also keep a current list of our board members and staff on this page.
RESOURCE ORDER FORM - Our councils are invited to submit a resource order to us twice a year - September and February. It is updated regularly with new resources as they are reviewed and/or recommended by our partner organizations (primarily ProLiteracy.org, but others as well). In addition to the 'paid' resources available here, our Coordinator, Provincial Volunteers has a wide range of 'free' resources that she is able to give councils/tutors access to.
(Core Resourcers are the ones with the pale green headers on pages 1 - 4). You will also notice that we offer a variety of books and webinars aimed to support board/staff development. There is also a variety of promotional materials available for order including bookmarks, posters, candies, notebooks etc. |

LEARNING UPGRADE (Standards-Based Education Accessed from Anywhere, Anyplace) - Learning Upgrade provides learners of all ages and abilities their own path to learning. The program includes over 1,400 lessons and 28 courses that use engaging songs, games, and immediate feedback. Learning Upgrade’s Learning Management System (LMS) includes a vast collection of valuable data, tracking student progress in real time. The top link on the right (LU Resource Link) is to our page here on the website. It provides an overview of the program. It also shows an example of a Student Self Enrolment Guide. I have included a link to a Self-Enrolment guide on the right which you can use to register and use the product if you are interest to see what it is like. I have also included a link (Learningupgrade.com) to the program's site for more information. If you have any trouble or questions - don't hesitate to reach out to me.

TUTOR RESOURCES PAGE - We have a fairly comprehensive tutor resources page on this website that includes more information, helpful links, videos etc, on a variety of topics. We have tried to break the resource page down by category to make it easier for our tutors to find what they are looking for. They are also encouraged to speak to the council's tutor coordinator and/or Alison (our Coordinator, Provincial Volunteers) to get directed to the resource they need. This also provides an access point to our online tutor training series, our promotional videos and other administrative documents that our councils may find useful. (Please note there is a password protect link on this page to the READ NB Board Portal.)
